Retro or Vintage – what’s the difference?

Here at Retro Furniture we specialise in Solid Indian Wood Furniture with a twist. All items that are a part of our collection are inspired by furniture designs and styles of days gone by – however we are often asked ‘what is the difference between the Retro and Vintage Retro product.

Well this blog needs to be at least 300 words so let’s go.

To start with there is the Retro Furniture range. The pieces in this range include everything from Coffee Tables to Wine Racks which are all inspired by 1960’s furniture design which can be seen in the theatrical curves and stylised legs. This collection is split into 2, the first part features items made from Indian Mango Wood and that are given a rough sawn finish, the second part the items are made from a blend of Reclaimed Indian Sheesham Wood and Indian Mango Wood giving the pieces a unique colour and texture.

Then we have the Vintage Retro collection. This range live the former is filled with many home favourites featuring TV units and Side Tables that are all inspired by 1950’s furniture design which can be seen in the units stylised metal legs and distinct grooves and intents present in the wood for that aged effect. These items are made from Indian Mango Wood and are available in a light wood finish and a dark wood finish that is exclusive to the Vintage Furniture range.

To round up there is one more range that is a more recent addition to our site and this is the Retro Chic collection. This range is made from Indian Mango Wood and comes in a vibrant light wood finish and striking dark wood finish with each item from the Retro Chic Sideboard to a the bookcases being inspired by 1970’s furniture design.
